Sts Aircraft - The initial contract for the hangar was signed in the fall of 2019, and design and production work began shortly thereafter. However, in early 2020, the project was put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The project was then restarted at the end of 2020, with two hangars completed in early 2021.

The project includes two AVC structures 150 feet wide, 205 feet long, and 32.8 feet high, installed next to the center channel/downpipe system.

The hangars use Serge Ferrari 1202 membrane, which complies with Florida's building codes for "windblown debris", a must in windy hurricane-prone regions like this one. This specialized architectural PVC is mostly white in color but has an attractive dark gray finish on the bottom. The white roof allows natural daylight into the hangars, illuminating the busy working environment.

Both hangars also use the foam fire extinguishing systems used with Group IV membrane hangars (NFPA 409 Fire Code for Aircraft Hangars). Since Rubb's flame retardant fabric does not spread flames throughout the hangar, this system is designed to protect the valuable aircraft inside.

The two hangars have been designed for single-aisle aircraft, so they can accommodate models such as the B737, A320 and A321. The former engineering facility of Monarch Aircraft was acquired by STS Aviation Group in late 2019 and opened in early 2020.

During the almost year-long crisis that hit the industry hard, the shortage in the labor market for maintenance and repair has somewhat decreased.

The deal with Boeing is for five years, according to which it will conveniently occupy 50% of the capacity of the hangar in Birmingham, and the rest will be available to the commercial sector.

Obtaining accreditation from the Office of Military Aviation-145 meant the creation of a large infrastructure with the division of the hangar into two zones; one for commercial work and one for the military, but both with extensive workshop capabilities. We planned to do it all in Birmingham, but maybe not as fast as we did.

After starting with just a few employees, the increase in maintenance work meant a rapid increase in the number of staff in Birmingham. In contact work and in the role of certification engineers, this is approximately 70-80 people at the end of 2020, and the total staff exceeds 100 people.
