Sts Military - The 320th Special Tactics Squadron (320th STS) is a special tactics unit of the United States Air Force Special Operations Command based at Kada Air Force Base.
The 320th was originally formed in 1943 during World War II as an air warning unit, the 320th Fighter Control Squadron. In 1943 the squadron was in the Pacific and served there until it was deactivated and disbanded after the war. In 1992, it was reorganized and reactivated as the 320th Special Tactics Squadron in Kada. Initially with the 720th Special Tactics Group, it was soon transferred to the 353rd Special Operations Group.

The 320th STS was originally established as the 320th Fighter Control Squadron on 30 March 1943 as an airborne warning unit during World War II. He was activated on April 1 as part of the Army Air Force School of Applied Tactics at Orlando Air Force Base. After completing air defense training, he became part of the Orlando fighter wing on November 1. Between 20 November and 11 December, the 320th operated at Camp Stoneman before being sent to Guadalcanal, arriving on 30 December as part of XIII. From July 24 to November 14, 1944, the squadron was attached to the 13th Air Alert Group (Provisional). On September 30, it was moved to Tome and on December 15, 320 to Wakde. On February 11, 1945, the squadron moved to Biak, on February 22 to Mindoro. She moved to Puerto Princesa on 1 March and was under the operational control of the 85th Fighter Wing from 1 April to 1 June. The 320th was reassigned to the 85th Fighter Wing on June 15, but was under the operational control of the Thirteenth Air Force until July 14. In October, he was transferred to XIII. Fighter Command and moved to Luzon on 29 October. On 2 November the squadron became part of XIII Bomber Command and on 30 November left Luzon for Vancouver Barracks. Arriving at Vancouver Barracks on 14 December, she was deactivated on 18 December. The 320th was disbanded on October 8, 1948.

On 20 February 1992, the squadron was reorganized and redesignated as the 320th Special Tactics Squadron and activated on 31 March as the 720th Special Tactics Group at Kada Air Base. The 320th consisted of combat controllers, paraescuemen, combat meteorologists, and survival, evasion, resistance, and evasion specialists.
During Operation Unified Assistance, a relief effort following the December 26, 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami, the squadron's combat controllers scouted airfields to receive humanitarian aid. 320th STS personnel deployed with United States Army Special Forces to the war in Afghanistan. On 28 February 2006, Squadron Sergeant David Beals' team was ambushed during a convoy operation and trapped a tire team in an insurgent kill zone. Beals was credited with saving the life of the tire team by repelling a 40mm attack from a Humvee M240 machine gun and an M203 class launcher and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal with "V" device. On 26 September 2008, squadron personnel assisted the 1st Special Operations Squadron and the 31st Rescue Squadron in the rescue of two persons injured in a crane accident on the container ship Occam's Razor. A joint team of paramedics and combat controllers disembarked from an MC-130H Combat Talon II and transported M to a hospital in Guam. After the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami, Paraescue conducted several search and rescue missions as part of Operation Tomodachi, 320th Humanitarian Aid.

The 125th Special Tactics Squadron is a special operations unit that serves as part of the 142nd Wing of the United States Air National Guard. He is based at the Air National Guard base in Portland, Oregon.
